  1. Hi fellow nurses!

I have worked in the same hospital 24 years since I was a new grad, have raised and now have 3 out of 4 kids in college and have a wee bit of time to connect online with colleagues.

I'd like to finish my BSN and get that master's degree so I can teach nursing. My body may not do bedside nursing that much longer without severe complaining.

Professionally I am the 'care and nurture first, do paperwork second' type. I would rather hear my patient's life story than audit a chart any day. I also like to translate advanced concepts into small bites so new nurses can learn them.

I am lucky to work where I do because the 'first touch' method is working along with massage, a therapeutic music channel, dog therapy, imagery, and 24/7 chaplaincy all in place. That doesn't preclude the usual short staffing days, general exaustion and fear of death that can drain me in only a few shifts.

I am glad to be here and look forward to discussing things with other nurses since we all have so much in common. Thanks to the managers of this site!
