Well i've been reading these forums for about 2 weeks now and decided that it was time for me to go ahead and take that huge step and.....register. So here I am... I'm 19 yo M just started Nursing school this august... Semester 1 of 5 whoohoo... So far everything has been pretty good...
A Little about how I ended up here?
Ok. ok. since your twisting my arm i'll give you the spill... I've always had a love for medicine as do most at some point in there life. (Come on who hasn't at least played doctor once during their childhood. Initiative vs. Guilt=> Role playing(Imagination) is a part of the developmental process. look i'm already learning) Anyways during my 10th grade year of highschool I had a collapsed lung. 1st chest tube put in to relief the pressure on my heart(said i could have died if i wouldn't have come in), The next day I had surgery to remove the top portion of my lung and then a 2nd chest tube put in.... 10 days later I was home... 15 days later back in again because fluid was still building up... 10 days later the fluid was removed via "pigtail"?
Long story short I am hear where I am today because of the coolest nurse ever... Not to mention a Male nurse.. I originally planned to go to Med School but finacially I couldn't afford a 4 yr institution.. Made it through one year and had to come home for financial reasons.... Anyways I can definately say the RN that helped me recover from surgery made a huge impact on my life..He talked to me like I was his only patient, explained everything that was going on.. Just like i'm learning now that we should do with all our pts.
Well i'm sorry i took up your time...Thanks for reading my post and if u wanna know more of my story just ask.. I didn't think everyone really wanted to hear everything...I think everyone at some point in their life has an influetial figure that persuaded them to go in the direction they did whether you know that individual did or not. I hope to see everyone around...
If I don't see you Good Morning and Good Night
