Back to Nursing after 5 years!

  1. Hi!
When 9-11-01 happened I was in a patients room and they had their TV on. I watched the images pass on the screen and I must admit I didn't really know what I was looking at. It took a while but then I realized that someone had done this to my New York.(NY native). I wanted to go home which is in FL now and simply be with my family. To make a long story short I quit my job to be at home with my 2 young children. I'm glad I did. My youngest just started school and I want to go back to nursing.
I need some advice. I started as a NICU nurse and did that for 2 years. I switched to mother/baby and did that for 4 months, then quit. I want to possibly branch out but feel that noone wants to hire me now because I lack experience in other fields of nursing. Any suggestions?

What makes you feel no one wants to hire you? Have you tried? Put in applications and been rejected? If not, then it's just your own fears. Go for what you want, ask for the areas you are interested in. It may take several applications and interviews, and you may have to go into one area to get an opportunity somewhere else later, but I'm sure you can find something. Hospitals in Florida are hiring for the busy season to come and it's a good time to get your foot in the door somewhere.

    Good luck and welcome!
