I just joined a few minutes ago, I am a late bloomer, raised 7 kids and worked as a Surg Tech. Decided to go for my RN when my youngest was in his last year of High School. Will graduate May 06 if all goes well. Great to be here. Looking forward to the births of my 16th and 17th grandchildren.

I'm a 40 y/o mother of two gregarious boys, 7 & 2, and am married to an extremely patient, loving and very capable man. I live in Melbourne which is where I finished my BSN 10 yrs ago and have since worked in various postions including ortho surgical/rehab and am currently employed in a large teaching hospital as a casual bank nurse. I deliberately started working casually after my last child as I was unsure what area to work in and I also wanted the flexibility to work and parent when I wanted to. I now seem to be working exclusively on niteshift - my own choosing- as I can work less for more and have plenty of time for my family and there needs - which are many! I have been feeling a little disillusioned with my profession of late and have been thinking what else I could do with my experience out of the hospital system. But my youngest is only two, and it is hard to make a commitment to anything until he is at school. It is fascinating reading all the various experiences of so many other nurses around the world. It was only by chance I discovered this site and I am soooo.......glad I did. Looking forward to corresponding with you all. please excuse my many errors as email is new to me and I am learning along the way
I am a mother of 3 wild ones, 5,3,1. I started nursing school this fall in hopes that the flexibility to parent when I need to and work when I want to ( I like that description) will be available. I think its great, we all have to work why not do it when and where you want to? Talk to you soon Sarah
