So I just wanted to say hey, how are you, and I hope you have a good experience!

I'm 46, an RN trained in a diploma school in Maine (1981). I've done all kinds of nursing, my favorite being geriatrics, with Chemical Dependency a close second.

I currently live in Maine, have a 17 year old son (who is just beginning driver ed, ugh!). I'm a Born Again Christian (3 years) but have to say that I am not one of those thumpers, LOL! How that happened is a long strange trip, I started out Catholic, tried all kinds of religion, no religion, etc. Then I ended up in AA (1985). I learned so much about tolerance, and the fact that God works miracles in EVERYONE's life, not just the "special" (wink) people.

So along with being sober I've also had to deal with my mental health issues, depression/bipolar, anxiety, oh fun fun...

SO - feel free to say hi, in this thread or through a private note! Happy you are here, lots of wonderful people! God bless! :hatparty:

Feel free to post on this thread, and if I see you "around" I will say hello!

I used to come visit this site while I was a nursing student back in 2000. I can't remember my original name. . But i have been a nurse now for 4 yrs. I have worked telemetry for the last 2. medsurg prior to that. It is nice to be back. I met a lot of nice people here. And received a lot of support as a nursing student and as a new nurse. So maybe i can give back a little to someone who might need a little encouragement, or advice. Janice

Hello, just signed on here since whenever I google a question this site seems to have most of my answers. LOL, So here I am
I just started as a CNA, and I'm in the process of finishing up my pre-req's for nursing school. Hope to get in next fall (fingers crossed), there are so many people that are trying to get into the school here that it's pretty tough to get on that list. But that's ok, we'll see what happens when the time comes.
I've two boys (6 and 7) and I am going to school part ime, working part time, and also working around my husband's work/school schedule, LOL! So, needless to say, life is busy around here :hatparty:

I really have enjoyed your forum, it's a great way to get a feel for what I'm getting myself into. So, much appreciated.

    Hi Everyone,

I am also a born-again Christian. Came on two weeks or so ago and have been reading all your postings. I am an older student BS-BSN. Started the BS-Accelerated BSN but found the stress too much and unnecessary. Then I switched to generic BSN. Hope to start classes next week. I would not advice anyone with other responsibilities to try the Accelerated BSN. It is dangerous to your health and family!
Looking forward to a regular program, although I hear it is almost as stressful.

Hi I think that is so cool that you're back in school. please know that God is always going to be in class with you when you start school. So ask him for the wisdom and knowledge that you need to get through all of your classes. And you have something that the other students in the class may not have, experience. remember you can do all things in Christ that strenghten you. God Bless you

    [size=7] hello everyone!
i am a 35 year married mother of 3 children ages 13, 9, and 3. one daughter, the oldest, then two boys. i am in my 2nd year of the rn program. i started back to school 3 years ago completing my prereqs (a&p, comm., etc). i am set to graduate june 2006, if all goes well, the good lord willing.

i am scared to death for 2nd year. first year of the rn program was pretty good, sitting good with a 3.84 average. but, am just very worried that 2nd year will be so much worse that i won't be able to keep up or comprehend the content.

i have trouble with lab values and the rationale behind the lab values; also with pathophysiology (s&s, etc.). i hope this all comes to me in time, but at the same time, i need it to "come" to me sooner!!!

i have 3 more weeks of summer break before fall quarter begins. i pray every day that this is what god wants of me. if it is in his will, then i will do it and will become an rn; but if it isn't in his will; then it wasn't meant to be. i just hope i am not doing the wrong thing by going back to school and having missed out on my kids growing up these last 3 years. my 3 year old will be 4 in november, so he was almost 1 when i went back to school, my being in school is all he has known of me. that is quite sad.

my husband works 2nd shift and works 5 to 6 days a week. it is tough. i hope i can get some advice and encouragement from you all and we can encourage each other through school.

thanks for having me here and hope to get to know you all.

well i think that god wants you to be in the nursing field or he wouldn't have opened as many doors for you :hatparty: you have three beautiful children that just sound lovely and a wonderful husband. please be sure to kiss the man and let him know that god sent him just for you :blushkiss
i can tell you that i have wanted to be a nurse since i was about two years old. my mother said she asked me what a nurse was and i told her that i didn't know. just know that god will not put more on you than you can bare and jesus said my yoke is light so put all your faith, heart and soul into your classes and ask god for wisdom and knowledge and remember you can do all things through christ that strenghtens you

Thank you so much for your encouraging words. I do think that I am meant to be in the nursing field in some way. I work as a Nurse Aide right now, and I really like it. I love to work with people, I love to make them feel better and to see them get healthy.

I do pray all the time about school. Before every exam, I pray that God opens my mind and my heart; that he gives me the grace to remember all I have learned and to be patient and to do my very best. So far so good. There are alot of obstacles in my way and some times I feel either I am being tested by the devil or that it just is a sign that I am not meant to be a nurse. Finances, kids activities, gas prices, vehicle problems, etc. etc. etc. But, I keep trucking on and hoping for the next 10 months to fly by! Pray for me and I will pray for everyone else who is in the same place as me.

    Thanks again,
