    hello everyone,

my name is deidre and i am somewhat a pre-nursing student i am waiting to take my clinicals. during these two years i am having a bad time in school. i am trying everything i can to pass, but i can't seem to get my gpa at a 3.0 for a particular college i am intrested in. i am at the point of quitting , and i don't know what to do. i am from pennsylvania i hope that someone out there can give me some advice. i only hear the success stories of the over achiever, but i am sadly to say that i am the under achiever coming in at a whopping 2.comic sans4plum4 i have a long way to go, or quit. i take class after class and still i feel as if i am getting no where. i am also tired of hearing from the smug nursing students here, that if you are a c student then know one will want you to treat that person. but if you are an a student then your are the best thing since penicillin.
i have tried over and over againg to be an a student but am tired of being average.

help, i may quit in march if nothing picks up around midterms.
please dont give up. it's not easy but it's a lie that if you are a c student you won't be a good nurse. i can tell you that i'm an over acheiver and am not always an a student but many of my friends tired their best and could only get c's and they are great nurses. they currently work in icu's pediatric icu's and so on. their school grades did not mean they were not real nurses. if you see that your gpa is not good enough for the school you want to go to you may have to think about attending another school, at least to get your basic rn education. i believe that where there is a will there is a way, just that they all aren't convential.

one thing you can do is buy the nclex 3000 review cd, it has many questions in all of the topics of nursing and it gives you the rationale for the answers, another thing is if you follow the link below it will give you a review program that you can purchase and do at your own time. i believe that this review program and the cd were what allowed me to pass. i hope all goes well keep us all informed.

hey i have been a member for a while but this is actually the first time that i've come on here and read a couple of the posts and actually posted something myself. here's a lil info about me. i live in brooklyn, new york i'm 23 yr's old and i have been a nurse for 2 years. i still haven't decided where in nursing i would like to be but i'm active in pursuing my education. i finish my bachelors in december and beging my masters in january. i have recently become acls, pals and iv certified. i'm also thinking about getting certified in med/surg but i'm still a little scared about that. i have no children and still live at home with my mom and three brothers. i'm a born again christian (10 years) and.................. i dont know what else to say. lol.

if anyone has any idea about review books for the certification exam i would be more than happy to get that info. i'm afraid i don't know enough to take the exam but............. am willing to try it :-)

thanks to all of you in advance for helping me.

Hi Dominick, I did a quick search of the internet. Looks like there are a lot of medical graphics available (which is a term you should search under). It's just a matter of poring through what they have online til you find what you're looking for.

Good luck! Are you planning to go into nursing?

lol. i'm not on anything, just that i get bored very easily and am not happy right now, so i'm doing what i can to further my education and see if i find the area of nursing that satisfies me the most. the sad thing is that i can't complain about the patients, my usual compliants are concerning fellow staff members who don't appreciate the diffences that we all bring to a team. there are many people who tend to forget that there is no i in team. i love to keep busy, so i do a lil of everything. i go to church three times a week, i go out with friends, and........... i go to prayer vigils just about every friday night. also within my church i go on any and just about every mission trip they go to.

    i'm also a geek lol. my current gpa is 3.67 :-p [size=4]

Just wanted to say hello to my fellow nurses. I am a 27 y/o female who has been an RN for 3 years now. I have worked in l&d, OR, PACU and surgery center. I love the PACU because you never know what is going to happen. Ran across this site an thought that I would check it out.

hey, I'm aforeign trained nurse have taken the nclex but failed. hope i will get clue on steps to take in order to pass next time.

one thing i have noticed is that common sence prevails in everything..if you back up to the basic's and move out from there you can't go wrong.. when you try to jump ahead you may skip a step that would have solved the problem in the first place... remember your evealuation of a patients condition doesn't start with the end vitals and md diagnosis... it's how tight does your rear tighten when you see them first..what is your immediate impression, then the vitals.. do they match the story is there something wrong with the picture...

so many people forget that common sense is the best thing we can fall back on and sadly something that the more educated you become you are discouraged from using... but the "sphincter factor" never once failed me i failede it when my alarm bells were ringing loud and clear and i let someone talk me out of it...

beilieve in your self... try to read what the basic question is in otherwords if the patient has a hx of cardiac, but he's complaining of leg pain vitals are wnl the look to the leg..think DVT but find out if he did a christmas shop in the mall and has just used the leg alot more..see... sometimes keep an eye on the worse but look for the most logical and see if that doesn't help...
