when I took the NCLEX-RN exams last December, I encountered about 2 new format exams. I bought a reviewer it's a 250-question new format exam questions for the NCLEX just to get ideas about what they mean about new format exams. But if you want to learn strategies on how to answer these type of questions, I suggest enrolling in a review class or review center. Good luck and all the best!

Thanks Garfield for all your input here! Wow!

I took mine in 1981 - it is just a BIT different now! LOL

So I just wanted to say hey, how are you, and I hope you have a good experience!

I'm 46, an RN trained in a diploma school in Maine (1981). I've done all kinds of nursing, my favorite being geriatrics, with Chemical Dependency a close second.

I currently live in Maine, have a 17 year old son (who is just beginning driver ed, ugh!). I'm a Born Again Christian (3 years) but have to say that I am not one of those thumpers, LOL! How that happened is a long strange trip, I started out Catholic, tried all kinds of religion, no religion, etc. Then I ended up in AA (1985). I learned so much about tolerance, and the fact that God works miracles in EVERYONE's life, not just the "special" (wink) people.

So along with being sober I've also had to deal with my mental health issues, depression/bipolar, anxiety, oh fun fun...

SO - feel free to say hi, in this thread or through a private note! Happy you are here, lots of wonderful people! God bless! :hatparty:

Feel free to post on this thread, and if I see you "around" I will say hello!
I'm an old new england boy myself. Thanks for the welcome.

Hey, hope things go well for you, are you working or a student? Wait - when I was a student I never worked harder in my life - riding my bike for miles in the rain at midnite uphill both ways to go to a job - ha ha

    Take care

My name is Natalie. I'm trying to get into LVN school this fall. However, since I don't live with my parents and they make too much for me to get alot of money from the government I will probably have to work 40 hours a week as well as go to LVN school! If anyone knows of any scholarships available to LVNs please let me know!!!! Hope you all have a great day!

How long have you lived out of the parents' home? I think you can get more money if you have been independent.

The financial aid dept SHOULD be able to help you with this, and will WANT to in order to help you get as much $ as possible!

Good luck! xo God bless you!

    Zoeboboey,
I've tried getting my independent status. However, since I'm not in the armed forces, don't have a depdent, i'm not a ward of the court, and i don't meet two other criteria, I am considered dependent. My financial aid counselor and I have tried everything. My dad hasn't given me a dime since I was 17 and my mum is just barely making enough on her own to make ends meet herself. She is also supporting my 19 year old sister who has never had a job and only got her GED after 2 years of my trying to convince her. So, unless I get scholarships, and school loans and private loans I don't know if I can do it. Working full time is NOT recommended! Ahhh Oh well. If it is the Lords will that I do this, it will all work out!

Nursing Scholarship program (National Health Service). Is taking applications right now. I think the deadline to have all the paper work is May 27, 2005. It would be a wonderful thing for me. I looked into and they pay tuition and a monthly stipened for the entire time in the program. Thing is 9000 people applied last year. some 500 of those qualified and only 126 got the scholarship. So I actually am a little leary of sharing this info. But hey I would like a shot at that if the tables were turned look into it you may very well qualify. and besides if you look into scholarships online you will find it anyway.

I wish I could help you. I wish I knew more about how it all works. I'm sure there might be people in the nursing student forums who could help though, try,
