    Hello!!
Yes--new here, but I've been reading your posts and have become quite inspired by the insight and dedication you nurses have shown. I'm a 20 year veteran with my BSN back in 1985. Critical care is what I do, but only on a casual basis for the last 10 years. I work in all critical care units, but don't get the exposure to much, as I work so infrequently and usually never work in the same area consecutively. I have been raising my 3 beautiful children and my husband travels so much. Now they are getting older, and I am looking into more steady hours and taking some graduate courses online.

Well--that's my story--looking forward to chatting with ya'll!!

Hi Ginger! Hope it goes well!

Hello-- I am new here again. yes, again... I found this site awhile back, and really didn't have time or the energy to to do much.. A sick mother, a teenage daughter caught up in drugs, a son that was giving me the ride of my life, and just about anything else you can think of. Well, my mom has since passed away, my daughter seems to be doing quite well, and as far as my son goes, i couldn't be more proud of him. i am an ER nurse, and obviously not a typist. i love what I do as most of us do. i am 48 years old, and have been a nurse for 6 years. i have worked in many areas, but ER is the best for me. Fast pace, new stuff all the time. i am really glad I re-found this place. you will be seeing much more of me (if the Lord is willing and the creeks don't rise too much) :chuckle :chuckle

Sounds like the crik done riz already, a FEW times, what fortitude you have and I'm so glad that things have leveled out with your family. PHEW! No wonder you like ER - you're used to calamity!

Take care - hope things continue to go well for you!

I graduated from a diploma RN program, worked in ICU, obtained a BS degree while working and graduated from a Nurse Anesthetist program. I worked a number of years then returned to ICU (high incident of miscarraiges in the OR). I worked with iur first 2 children and took time off to raise our 3rd child and spend time with all of them. I am currently in a RN Refresher Program. I am disappointed that the instructor can not find a clinical spot for 25% of our class!:angryfire

NO SPOTS for 25% of the CLASS?????? Unbelievable.... I do not understand what is up with that!

Hi, I'm Bre. I've been an RN since 1997 and mostly worked in the homecare field and recently went back into med/surg. After working med/surg for several months and not liking hopital politics at all, I have decided to go into travel nursing. I homeschool my 3 boys, so no problem taking them on the road. I have a good friend that is going to do travel nursing with me. It seems much less scary traveling with a friend. Can't wait to get on the road!

Sounds like a GREAT PLAN! Good for you!

I found that travelling as well as local agency nursing helped me with that whole "politics" business. Plus if a place ended up below my standards I was free to leave. PERFECT.

I didn't do much travelling, only one assignment, but I did do agency here in my city for quite a while.

    Good luck to you!

Hi everybody. Yes, I am new here.I have read the many postings over the past several months but am just now registered. I am an Excelsior Nursing Student from Utah .......waiting for my date for the Clinical Performance in Nursing Examination (CPNE). There are several of us in our local study group that are ready for this CPNE of whom 2 just received a date for February. At any rate, looking forward to reading and receiving other posts from other Excelsior student nurses, and hopefully "talking" to others in the program who are in Utah. We also have a student nursing association for Excelsior student nurses as well here, so hopefully will be hearing from those who want more information to be part of the study group and association. Looking forward to hearing from others...........
