Thanks Zoeboboey. The program is 18 months and from what I understand it is very intense. It's from Mon-Thu evening every week for 6pm-10pm and every other Saturday from 8am-3:15 pm. It takes me about 45 mins to get there each way, but I know it will all be worth it when I'm done.

Are you working FT too? Sounds pretty intensive!

No, I'm only working 3 days a week as a unit secretary in a LTC/Rehab facility. I don't think I could devote the necessary time to study if I had to work full-time. The money will be tight, but gotta do what I gotta do.

Hi, everybody. This is my first time ever to chat online. So please be patient if I'm slow or ignorant. I work in a Special Care Nursery ( a sort of NICU) and have three daughters and 4 wonderful grandbabies. Hope to make some new friends here. Not just everybody knows what special people nurses are!!

Welcome Nanna! Do your grandkids live nearby? I hear such good things about being a grandparent - it just astounds me the way they gush over these little creatures LOL! My son's only 17 so I am hoping he makes me wait before I am a grandmother, ha ha!

Hello everyone! I just found this site and am excited to read that I am not alone in the world of nursing with some of the feeling that I have. I have been licensed since 1994 as an LPN. I am a 37 year old mother of 3 (16,12,9). I work primarily with geriatrics. Although, I did work some with terminal pediatric patients in a home health setting. I am a recovering alcholic/addict also. I have been sober for 4 years. I am also a newly born again christian. I love what I do and value every moment that I can make a difference in the lives of those that sometimes are forgotten.

Hi everyone! I'm a 32 year old hospice nurse in Las Vegas. My background is primarily acute care - med/surg and OR - and I've been with hospice since June of '04. This is such a wonderful site, and I look forward to communicating with my colleagues from all over!

lpn in 2006hi everybody...i'm new to the site and i just wanted to introduce myself. i begin an lpn program in 2 weeks. i hope to get my rn immediately after but due to a shortage of $ and time i'm taking this route. i already have a 4 year degree in english, but i decided that teaching just wasn;t for me so now i'm following my heart and going into nursing . i'm very excited to start my program...it's been a long road with some hurdles and roadblocks, but thanks to my wonderful husband...i'm on my way .
don't get discouraged by the people who say, "why would you want to be an lpn, why not just become an rn?" i did the lpn first and i am so glad, it was what was right for me and i think that it will make me a better nurse in the long run. i am also going to get my rn. i hate working with rns who treat you like you're retarded because you are an lpn and now because i've experienced being an lpn i will be very conscious never to treat anyone like that when i am an rn.
    good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
