Am I taking too much?

  1. I know that many of you have taken more, but I am wanting to take Chemistry and Anatomy at the same time. Am I biting off too much at once? I am a stay at home mom to a 7 and a 4 year old.

Many people have done it. It's going to be tough and demanding.

    Good luck. Welcome to Allnurses.

I know, I am acting like a chicken. My husband recently became disabled so I have my hands full there too, but I want to get on with my schooling/career!!

I just hope I don't blow it with my gpa come time to apply for the program. I only have those 2 and 2 other classes to go!

Hi Pinklady - That should be doable since you are a SAHM, and I'm guessing your children will be in school during the day. Definitely record all the lectures, though, just in case you have one of those days when you just can't concentrate.

I did it with a 2 and 5 y/o. You can too. It is a good warm up to how to manage when you get into the nursing program too. I found the nursing much more demanding than the chem/ a&p combination. I am glad I ramped up to it. Good luck !

Go for it! I took Chemisty and Microbiology at the same time plus 2 other classes and it was fine. The key is that you don't work and can dedicate time to getting things done. I just had to resign myself to doing what I needed to do. Sometimes that meant leaving dirty dishes in the sink overnight or picking up a roasted chicken and a bag of pre-made salad for dinner at the grocery store.

I had a friend who has little ones and she bought a few little items at the dollar store and when she really needed time and the kids were restless she would bust out a goodie bag and let them choose something to buy her some study time. Be inventive and if all else fails get yourself a sitter and head for the library!

    You'll do great!
