OB-GYN not for me!!

I spent many of the previous years of my life studying for my BS in biology and taking the MCATs. I had BIG plans of becoming a doctor. My dreams continued through my first pregnancy and birth, at a hospital with an OB-GYN and my second pregnancy and birth, same hospital and OB-GYN. Something for me changed after that second birth though. I quickly began researching and for my third child, I swapped care providers at 30 weeks pregnant and went on to have my baby at home with a CPM.

Now, since I already have a degree behind me and since CPMs are not covered by most insurances in my state, I want to go back to school for my BSN and then to Frontier for my CNM. I'd like to someday have my own homebirth practice and maybe work at a birth center if one ever opens up in our state. This is a big change from the doctor world, but one I am glad to have discovered before applying to medical school.

Currently, I am finishing my MPH, I have applied for my BSN. I am working as a research associate and a birth doula. I am studying to be a postpartum doula and a childbirth educator as well. I have three children, ages 3, 2, and 7 months. I am 26 and married and we also have 2 cats and a dog.
