LOL obviously I should have started here!

Oops.

Anyways, my name is Laura, and I am going to enter nursing school in spring of '10!

I am freaking out a little because I am much older, have been out of school for years, and hope I can hack it!

Thank you all for building this cool little community...it feels realllllly good to talk to some actual nurses wihout fear of judgement!

Welcome to the site, I would not be nervous at 27, you are still young....stay focused and you will do well.

Hi there!
I graduated a 2 year program at 43. It took me 2 attempts and 6 years (I went back to work for a couple years in between),LOL. If I did it, you can do it!! It isn't easy but will be well worth the struggle. I had to live with realtives and friends (a week in each place) for the last 2 semesters...even under all that stress I made it.

Be prepared to be truly focused, committed and determined and you will be just fine. The best of luck, and enjoy the experience. You will learn so much and make such good friends.

At 27 you consider yourself to be "much older"? Yikes, what does that make me? I started nursing school at the age of 48, finished at 49 (one year ABSN program), started my first job just a couple months shy of my 50th birthday. Have never had a problem due to being "older". RELAX, and, have fun! I loved nursing school -- I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!
