Well I'm a new member here who's been lurking on these forums for some time now. I recently graduated from high school and am now attending a community college. I can't say that I'm a nurse or a nursing student. At this time, I'm still wondering if I should pursue a career in nursing or not. I came upon this website while doing research for potential majors. Hopefully it will help me shed some light on my future goals.
My life, overall, could be considered an absolute failure. I never did anything great, nor were my grades spectacular. It wasn't until last year that I started getting my act together. My high school gpa for my senior year was a 3.8, while compared to the other years, were a 2.5. I also enrolled in my first, and last, Advanced Placement class. It was a biology course. I loved the class and felt that I finally found my passion. I was also recently notified that I passed the AP Bio exam with a score of 3 (not the best, but still passing). It wasn't until I graduated from high school that I realized I could do something great with my life.
My initial plan was to major in biology, but I quickly changed my mind because although the subject is interesting, I wouldn't want to work in a lab or do research for the rest of my life. It was then that the idea of nursing came into my mind. It would allow me to apply biological skills, not to mention help people too. However, what worries me is the fact that I'm shy. It takes a while for me to get used to meeting new people. I really hope this doesn't take a toll on me.
So as of right now, I'm still doing a lot of thinking and researching, but I need to make up my mind soon, and that's why I'm here. =P
Well, I'll see you all around the forums!
