Greeting from northRN

by northRN

Well .... let's see ....Today, here in northern Alberta, Canada ... it is snowing heavily.... I'm off today ... just finished three twelve hour shifts in my small rural hospital ... went back to to school as an "old lady" ....and finished my RN diploma when I was 40 ..... have been nursing for three years ..... steep learning curve in a small (13 bed) rural hospital with a 24/7 emergency department. Quite the place to start after graduation!! Not for everyone!! I also spent some time driving to the city and working on a medical floor in a large hospital so that gave me alot of great experience as well! Rural nursing is my interest and learning how to cope with being the "jack of all trades" RN (often the only RN) has been quite the experience!

Welcome! This is a really great site. My husband and I honeymooned up in Alberta. I even had the opportunity to visit the ED in a small hospital in Jasper while there! I envy you living in a place of such great beauty....
I have also worked in a small rural hospital about the size of what you describe yours as....it was some time ago and I was a new grad. Talk about doing a little bit of EVERYTHING! It was a fun environment...
I look forward to reading more of your posts!

Welcome to allnurses! I don't think I could handle that cold, it's been in the mid-seventies here lately, and I'm loving it! Spring is in the air!
