Changing careers and was researching the nursing field due to the job security. I came across this site and had a few questions. I have a CIS(Computer Information System) degree and have worked in the IT field for 14 years. However, due to the global economy and the outsourcing of jobs in the IT industry the future looks very grim. It's true technology information jobs are growing above the average compared to other fields if live in outside the U.S.A.. Anyways, I will be receiving unemployment benefits soon. ( By the end of the year) So, I thought this would be a good time to start a nursing career. Like most folks I have a mortgage and bills and really can't live off unemployment more than a year. I thought I would look into getting my LPN since it can be obtained within 12-15 months I believe. Once the LPN has been obtained I could start working again and enter the LPN to RN online programs I see advertised.
Question: Has anyone actual done this? LPN to RN thru a online program? I would think more clinicals would be required for the RN. Or are all the required clinicals part of the LPN program?
Any suggestions or advice please.. Thanks
