Another Fresh Nursing Student

Hello to everyone at allnurses.com (:!

I'm currently in my third week of the ADN program at Kaplan College San Diego. So far the classes are manageable, but I know that the rough and tough is yet to come.I've graduated just a couple of months ago from the PCAT program at the same school, but never really had the chance to work with my certifications. I'm pretty pshyced that I got into the Nursing program so soon. If I had the chance I would have dived straight in right after highschool, but I did not have any medical backround at all, so the PCAT program was my life for the previous ten months.

I'm actually loving my classes so far. It was a bit overwhelming in some classes at first; such as Anatomy & Physiology. A lot of information is given to you at a very fast pace. But that's to be expected with an accelerated program squeezed into 20 months right? The books that I've got easily fit into a regular shoulder backpack, but I know I should start shopping for a roomy rolling backpack for the upcoming semesters. I've seen the Med-Surg & Microbiology books the Seniors are carrying around, yikes.

I'm looking forward to the next 20 months. I know this program is going to throw me into an emotional rollercoaster, but I'm strapped down for the ride. I've always wanted to be working in the medical field and what better profession than becoming an RN. I really have my eye set on becoming a traveling nurse in order to really see the world and help those in need. So future, here I come!

My faith is what keeps me going. My personal support system consisting of my family and friends keep me motivated. And the world continously inspires me. I am hoping to hear from many of you cool cats and learn from your experiences in a nursing program and the workplace. Any advice on how to survive is greatly appreciated (:
