I just found out tonight that I was admitted to Broward College (BC--Davie, FL, Central campus) for Nursing, although this is really pre-nursing considering I haven't taken their pre req's yet. I am so excited about this for so many reasons!
I'm 21--have been attending the University of Central Florida since 2006 till July of this year, though not as a nursing major, that's a new development.
I have my English pre req out of the way seeing how I took it AP back in high school--hope they still accept my AP credit, but it's only from '06, so I don't see why they wouldn't. I wonder if I'll have to send my AP scores in or if they'll accept it from my UCF transcript? Hmm..
Anyway, I *AM* worrying a ton about getting good grades in the pre req courses (A&P I and II and their labs, plus chem and a health care core class)--seems like to get accepted into the nursing program you need near perfect grades! That's kind of daunting. At UCF my GPA was only a 2.89...not that I'm a bad student, but I did have an 'F' in there for an Advertising class. Glad my Broward GPA will only be based off of the pre req classes. It's nice, in a way, to start new. Although I don't exactly like feeling as if I've lost three years of university...but I'm going to go back for my RN to BSN later and so I know it'll have been helpful to have all of my Gen Ed's done.
This seems to be turning into a rant, a bit. But it's a nursing forum and it's so nice to talk..I'm a new, first time mom, so I don't get that too often. My son is almost 3 months old and is quite a handful-he has colic and reflux and refuses to sleep anywhere other than on someone. I'm not sure how going back to school will work for my family and I, but I'm doing it and we'll make it happen somehow. I live with my fiance and we live with my parents in the house I grew up in just down the road from the BC campus--convenient!!
I also am worried about the HESI A2 entrance exam that it would appear BC is beginning to implement with the August 2010 Nursing class. That, or one after it likely, will be my class. Ahhhh, I couldn't have gotten in before, huh? Not worried about any of the components other than math, which I'm awful in. :/
Is anyone else starting up at BC, any campus, in Jan 2010 for prenursing? It'd be nice to have study buddies since the coursework is SO vital!
Either way, introducing myself, and it'd be nice to chat and get to know anyone.
