Hi Everyone! Just a little about me - I left my Fortune 500 career in 2006 to go into healthcare administration. I was hoping to get a much better perspective on how healthcare works instead of just watching as a disinterested observer on the sidelines. I have to admit, I quickly became a HUGE fan of nurses. I was absolutely shocked when I realized both the quantity and type of work they do! I had no idea. And then all the things they put up with - all of the bottom line pressure from administration, often dealing with arrogant physicians, all of the complaints & behaviors of patients & their families, working short staffed or extra shifts just to get things done, etc. Plus, I had a director of nursing that saved my bacon at least 10 times a week.
Anyway, to be brief - I saw so many ways to make life a little easier for nurses and other healthcare professionals, so I've taken a brief hiatus from healthcare administration to pursue some research and develop some ideas. I have two points of interest at allnurses.com ... since I'm not a nurse, I want to make sure I'm ok to keep up w/ the community:
- bounce some ideas off the wall and seek feedback, perspective, viewpoints, etc.
- provide comments / kudos and whatever limited moral support I can to individuals who do so much for our communities w/ very little appreciation or notice
So, that's me. At least you can know that there's one Administrator / CEO type out here who thinks ya'll are pretty darned awesome and is grateful for all that you do.
