Working visa for nclex passer

Hi! I took my nclex-rn last week and i'm still waiting for the results. Can anyone please help me how I can get a working visa to be able to work in California if ever I pass the nclex-rn and does the pearson vue trick work? Thank you so much!

1. No green card visas available.
2. You are VERY unlikely to get a work visa fro CA due to their economy - even locals cannot get jobs there, let alone hospitals affording work visas.
3. You cannot get CA license without SSN. You can't get SSN without valid visa permitting you to work.

Sorry to be discouraging, but this is how it is at the moment

That is indeed discouraging..

your answer is too assuming though because you can't say for sure that there are no green card visas available 100%.

Thank you for your post anyway.

Actually the OP was stating a fact not an assumption. When the OP says green card he/she meant immigrant visas and to date the priority as per visa bulletin is still in 2002. As for the working visas, it will depend on your qualification because usually they only give this to those who have specialization (eg. dialysis nurse) and years of experience, having a post graduate degree is another thing. Do you have any of these? If you do then I would suggest that you look for agencies here in the Philippines because I heard that there are some agencies here who offer working visas for those who will qualify. Best of luck to your endeavor my countryman.

Thank you callenRN1507. I was asking about the working visa not the immigrant visa so I don't know why the OP has to inform me that there are no green card visas available. Is that the same? I was hoping to come across someone who has a working visa so that I may ask for some information about the process or ask for some agency names.

By the way, I said the OP was assuming because applying as a nurse is not the only way that I or anyone can get a green card visa.

What work experience do you have? H1b is generally the work visa and you have to meet requirements and be specialised. Also read the CA state forum, many nurses are struggling to find work and the economic situation in CA is very tough with high unemployment therefore finding a hospital willing to pay $$$ for your work visa is going to be very hard

There are people who have been waiting for years to obtain a green card. They have applied many years ago and have yet to receive one. So it's safe to say that at this moment in time there are no green cards available for people who haven't even applied for one. For H1b (the working) visa you need several years experience in a specialized area of nursing. If you don't meet their requirements then I'm afraid you're stuck. Your best bet is to keep on working as a RN (if you are working as a staff nurse) and gain some experience, and apply for a green card. Then get in line like the rest and just wait.

You're correct there are other ways you can get a working visa. But don't expect to be able to work as a RN on that visa because you're petitioned by an employer for that specific company for a specific job. Right now I highly doubt there is a lot of petitioning going on right now because of all the lay offs and budget cuts. There's no need to import at this moment in time. You might consider another country while you're waiting for the US.

Since you asked about "working visa" it would seem safe to say that you were not asking about marriage- or family-based immigrant visas. You did not specify if you meant immigrant or temporary working visas. There are no immigrant visas in the EB3 category available. Is that specific enough? If you are talking about temporary visas, please specify what category and what specialist experience you have to qualify you for one of these.

PS: You are the OP, not me.
