When to apply for Visa Screen?

  1. Hi all,

If I am going to usa 29th Dec to make up nursing hours and will be sitting NCLEX around June 2007 then finding a job and filling for AOS when is the best time to apply for the Visa Screen Certificate? Once certificate is issued how long does it last before you need to do it again?

I dont want to apply to early and the application be expired before I add my nclex result to it so certificate can be issued. I dont to complete visa screen and then by the time Govt needs it for my AOS it be expired. BUT I dont want to leave it to late!!

Can apply Now, they will not issue you your VS until you have passed NCLEX so you just need to arrange with your BON to pass on the results and there is usually a small fee. My VS was issued in 2004 and valid I think until 2009.

Do not apply now for it. It only has a one year date until the application expires. This has chnaged in the past few months, it used to be good for two years, but the application is only good for one year now.

Once you actually get the Certificate, then that is good for five years, but the application has a very short shelf life.

No problem, they just recently changed this to one year application vs the old two year as you know it.
    :wink2:
Now I always tell them to wait until they get actual approval from a state that their credentials have been accepted before submitting the application for the VSC. It is not needed for the first petition to be submitted, both for AOS and the Consular Processing.
