CGFNS do a few services, the exam is only applicable for a handful of states otherwise they use CES which is a course evaluation on your transcripts.

Just because you do not use CGFNS for initial state if you move to another state you may still have to meet their requirements and if that means CGFNS then you have to get it done

CGFNS is a company. They have several services, including CGFNS exam, CES appraisal, and CVS appraisal.

New York requires CVS service.

Most states require CES appraisal report.

Only about 5 states require the CGFNS exam.
