What I should do next after passing NCLEX??

I just took NCLEX-RN last week and got my unofficial result from personve toady, which says I passed. Since I am applying for New York State licensure, so it seems I still need to complete 2 courses (identification and reporting of child abuse, infection control and barrier precautions). Is there anyone knowing how I can take online courses for these 2? Can New York issue my license without the completion of these 2 courses? Or I must be done these before the licence can be issued? Very confused about this. Another question is it usually takes how long for N.Y. to issue my license? Is there anything I should do after CVS and NCLEX exam so that New York could send me my RN license, or I just need to wait? Thanks!

1. The classes can be done on-line and you will get your license issued without them. They are required to be done before you being work in NY as an RN. You will need to show proof of them.

2. Once NY gets official word, and your file is complete, they will send your license.

3. Nothing to do but wait, or look for an employer.

Thanx a lot, Suzanne and antona! Just called NYBON to see if I am all set for my beautiful license last night and was told my license would be issued on next Monday.

And Suzzanne, I decide to take you advice--start looking for a employer. But I know very little about it. Could you explain to how it works? Do I have to find an recruiter/agency or I can contact the hospital I'd like to working for by myself?? I saw a lot ads from website which are looking for RNs, so what I need to do is to simply send my resume to them?

Another thing I need you advice is about my working experience. I used to work in GO department for over 6 years in China after graduated from nursing school. But actually I don't like the work there much. I'd like to be an RN in the States in ER, ICU, CCU, or OR-like my mom, so that I can practise more such as CPR, BLS,TPN... do you think it is wise for me to swich to those department while I am applying a job? I am worred that the empolyer will turn me down because I don't have any experiencese in those fields. By the way, dose my GO experience count in the US hospital or I am totally new RN as the new graduates since I have never worked in the US.

Huge thanx!!

You will be considered a new grad to start, and especially since you do not have any work experience in those areas that you want.

Best bet it to contact the hospitals directly.

Let me know if you need any help.

Hi Aliana,

I'm a new grad myself. From the job hunting I've done so far, I can only say "be persistant!" Let the employers see that you're interested

And nothing beats contacting them directly

Good luck!

I m done with Toefl and Nclex exam. I have also already processed the VSC.

So, my question is what next for me now. Shall I wait for the license to come or shall I start looking for the job? & also my license will be from CO and I want to endorse here in NE.

What am I supposed to do now? Plz..suzanne help me.
