What are my options after 3 unsuccessful CPNRE exam?

Hi everyone,

All nurses and nursing related profession, Please, please help me here with all your intelligent knowledge and information.

Recently, i took CPNRE for third time and i failed. I am now TOTALLY CONFUSED!!

It's not because i am not interested in the profession. In fact, i lost two of my family before i wrote

my first and third test which affected my preparation as well as mental state. Though i did completed

my diploma in Practical Nursing, I am now confused what to do since i couldn't clear the exam. The only

option i can think of are either work now as PSW since i was unsuccessful 3 times

in CPNRE exam.

Does anyone know if i can do bridging to RN despite failing 3 times in CPNRE?

Or, if I want to study RPN again or for RN, is there a way i can do it. How does it work?

Guide me please?? Help me here and God will help you.

A fourth attempt would only be permitted under the most extenuating of circumstances. To the OP, we're all very sorry for your losses but unless the death of a family member occurs within a day or two of the exam date, the College would expect the candidate to have both the time and the critical thinking skills to withdraw from the exam on the scheduled date. Having been through the process twice already, they would expect you to know that. It comes down to accountability. Unfortunately they're not going to have all that much symapthy, sad though the situation is. Using that as a mitigating factor for a third unsuccessful attempt will likely be viewed as making excuses.

To each of you who has been unsuccessful three times, you're going to really have to want to be a practical nurse to go through the process of redeeming yourselves and only you know if you're capable of pushing through. Best wishes.

Sorry about your failure if its an option for you perhapes you can apply in the United States and do the NCLEX.

The NCLEX is for RN licensure.You would not qualify for any licensure in the US without a valid Canadian license.

there is a nclex pn exam and im pretty sure you need to have graduated from an approved program in some states to apply for licensing in other states you would have to be licensed int eh jurisdiction in which you where educated so you may want to look into this further if your interested in relocating. good luck

With no Canadian license you would not be able to write the NCLEX PN exam.Highly doubtful if they failed ours three times they would pass that one either.

Not all states require a Canadian license so it may be possible however the stumbling block is working in the US and meeting NAFTA requirements and I do not think LPN will meet requirements for NAFTA

Why didn't you seek help after failing the second time? Obviously, if you failed twice then you knew there was a problem with either your nursing knowledge or english comprehension skills.

The CPNRE is not a difficult exam unless your english comprehension is lacking or you did poorly in school.

If english is not your first language you should take english upgrading classes at the college level. Take an english literature class to increase your english vocabulary and comprehension skills.

As for the NCLEX....I was educated in the US and can tell you that the NCLEX is far more difficult than the CPNRE.

Not yet....i am still waiting for their paperwork....did not receive anything after the result....

about 5-6 weeks after result declared in oct 2011....i ll call cno again on monday to find out about paperwork.....in the mean time, i thought to ask you guys if there is any update...
