weight of NCLEX and CGFNS

  1. In applying for a permanent visa or looking for an employer, does having CGFNS and NCLEX both passed have more weight than passing only NCLEX exam? Is the process faster if both exam has been passed?

Coz' I heard stories that when they are applying for an employer in California, they were looking for CGFNS exam passer also. Did anyone experienced this?

Better take the NCLEX, most states do not require the CGFNS anymore. With the NCLEX availability in the Philippines in the near future this will make NLCEX the more preferred route when completing the visa screen requirements.

BTW, I am a CGFNS passer myself.

CGFNS exam only has weight when you apply to those states that require it. The "ultimate/has-it-all test" is the NCLEX-RN exam as far as US Nursing is concerned.

If you have already applied for the Visascreen(like in the case of most nurses), then they already have the documents which you deem as an "advantage" because with the cgfns certificate, it is assumed that all your documents are on file and therefore ready for other things, like CES/CVS(although with CVS they have to revalidate again)which maybe needed either for endorsement or for further studies.

So, if you are not applying to a state that requires CGFNS, consider only as a "bonus", as this flexibility will allow you to endorse your US license to any other state. This is what your friends are talking about, you can go anywhere with both exams passed. But then again, the most important exam is the nclex-rn exam.

    God bless!

Agencies in the Philippines will tell you that you need to have it, and it is not the case. And it is not looked on as it being a bonus. It just does not make any difference at all.
