According to the VA BON, they are looking to change how foreign nurses are licensed. I would call the BON and ask when they are going to vote on the proposed document.

California requires a local license. Sometimes it is waived. But your best bet is to try and get licensed where you are living.

janetcruz, when MedSurg32RN said "I would call the BON," she meant that if she were in your situation, she would call the BON. You need to be the one calling the BON. Good luck!

The reason why you should call is that the BON is asking for public comment ( which has closed). Based on public comments, they are looking to change the way foreign nurses are evaluated. I am trying to save you time and aggravation especially if the rules change.

Looks like what the state is trying to do avoid the test but have the courses evaluated. You would not be able to sit for the November CGFNS, hopefully the law will change before the next test.

Call.....they will know best.

Most states are leaning towards a local license, which makes sense. Especially if you're looking for someone with experience.
