lavarn: what fees did you have to pay to get a license and be able to work in Australia?

This thread's six years old, and lava RN's post was four years ago. There have been some changes in the interim, including a move to national registration - all fees and most procedures have changed. To get an idea of current requirements and costs check the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency website: http://www.ahpra.gov.au/. This is the overseas registration page, this isinformation on assessment of internationally qualified nurses, and this is the schedule of fees.

Hope that helps :)

Thanks for the info talaxandra. Very Helpful.

I'm graduating from my LPN course this December (I'm American) and I'd like to see if there are opportunities for us in Australia. I know that as an RN with a Bachelor's degree, there are more opportunities. Do you think that an LPN from the USA is almost as similar to an EN in Australia? Of course I plan to get at least a year's worth experience before I move out if possible.

Hi Solidus,

I think only registered nurses or equivalent are eligible under the skills section for migration, but I could be wrong. You're probably best emailing AHPRA to be sure, though. Good luck :)
