US RN moving to New Zealand...needing some assistance

I am applying for RN registration in NZ and have run into some snags. I have printed out the application and have started that process. I have contacted the Nursing Council several times about 'certified' copies and still don't understand what I am truly supposed to do. Here in the US they can be notarized by a Notary of the Public. One person stated to have a lawyer sign and confirm authenticity. What exactly does it mean to have a document certified???

Can anyone from the US going to NZ help me out??
