    Hi Istranbul

Also I'm from Turkey from Istanbul but I live in New York. I've been living here in the States almost for 3 years. I passed my nclex-rn on December 11 2009 it wasn't easy. Now I'm waiting to receive my License as RN from New York Board. It took me like one and a half year to be able to take the test.
I took my nursing degree from Romania but I worked in Capa Medical Faculty in Istanbul. After I came here I had to study to learn English then I had started to study for nursing.
First of all you need to decide in which state do you wish to work and then you need to contact CGFNS and to see the requirements for which state you are going to apply. I will be very glad to give you more information if you need. When I first came to this country nobody could helped me about my situation because nobody heard about Turkish Nurses and nursing in Turkey. I should say if Silverdragon and Suzzan wouldn't help me I wouldn't been gotten my RN License in this country This forum helped me a lot and I would like to help you too.

The issue if you find a hospital willing to sponsor you is retrogression and a current wait of 5 years or more for a visa. This may change but at the moment only applications received before the beginning of 2005 are being processed

    Hello! =)
Here is my very first post on these forums.
I will try to explain my confused self here. I had registered here months ago but somehow could not follow. Trying to read at least a bit recently, because lots of awesome info here for us nurses and some new info I need and so on. Also I really wonder how is nursing in worldwide and what common things/experiences I am sharing with other nurses all around.
I am a new nurse, like almost 6 months, graduated from Ko University in 2010 june. I live and work in Istanbul. I chose to be a pediatrics nurse because I adore children and I am so happy while working with them really. =) I love everything but recently started to realise there are some unfair things happening around, so I've decided to start planning for my dream. After I got 1-2 years of experience I would love to try working in abroad, probably in the USA. To be honest, although I am dying for it, I feel like I am lost in my dreams because I do not know about these things much.
I need some detailed info at first probably.. Like, how many years I need to continue here, what kind of exams I need to take to be accepted as a nurse in the USA/how to apply for them, what materials are needed, also skills maybe and so on, totaly confused, or just I do not know much thing..

May take several years at the moment to get into the US due to retrogression. You can however start by applying to the state board of nursing (links can be found at the bottom of the page) and get the ball rolling to be a licensed nurse in the US. You will need to take and pass NCLEX. There are currently 2 states that definitely require a SSN with your application so check with their website on requirements as each state has their own requirements
