TN Visa Letter Format

You can PM me and I will give you my email address. I am also Canadian and went to school in the US for my RN. I had a TN in the past and could send you a copy of what the hospital provided for me. I had NO problem at the border.

I am a canadian as well finishing up my education in the us. For you other canucks, were you able to interview for jobs without having taken the nclex or passed the visa screen? How did you keep your legal status throughout the whole process of getting a job? I'm very confused about everything. Are hospitals open to the tn thing? When did you drop the Canadian card? They cannot make you an offer of a job until you actually have passed the NCLEX exam. Unless you get the OPT and that has to be applied for before you graduate, more than likely you will have to leave the US and wait to get everything processed. You have only 60 days from the time that you complete your last day of class to remain in the US under the student visa.

You also are going to need to leave the US in order to obtain the TN Visa, it cannot be obtained in the US.

Visa Screen Certificate has nothing to pass, it requires that you complete the application as well as have the results of your passing of the NCLEX exam sent into ICHP for the certificate. This needs to be presented when you go to the border for the TN Visa.

A hospital may let you interview, but they cannot legally offer the job or start the processing of your employment until you have passed the NCLEX exam. This is per federal regulations.

Currently, the US is under a retrogression and has been for more than two years. The only way that you are going to be able to work here is because of the TN Visa, if you were born in another country, this would not be possible at this time. It is going to be years before you are going to be able to get the green card. Much has already been written on this topic, please just do a search.

You need 15 or more posts to be able to access the pm and email system although you can read pm's if sent to you.

To get a TN visa you need to find a employer and be already registered with a state and passed NCLEX plus have VSC

Saw this thread and have a few questions of my own...I have passed the Nclex, have my VSC, have my job offer, but not sure of this letter that you are refering to...
I would like to make application for the TN Visa by Oct. 2 09,,,,30 days prior to going over the border..as my Orientation date in Florida is booked for Nov. 9th, 09.
I would also like to know,,,do you apply for TN on the Canadian side, or on the US side???
And when I do, can I stay in Canada till I am ready to go to Florida, or do I have to go immediately upon apply for the TN Visa??

TN visa is issued by the US immigration at the border as you enter the US. You can not get it when already in the US you have to leave and re enter. The letter you need is a letter from employer confirming employment

A Canadian citizen without a TN visa can apply at a U.S. port of entry with all of the following:

* Request for admission under TN status to Department of Homeland Security, Customs and Border Protection, U.S. immigration officer;
* Employment Letter - Evidence of professional employment. See Employment Letter below;
* Proof of professional qualifications, such as transcripts of grades, licenses, certificates, degrees, and/or records of previous employment;
* Proof of ability to meet applicable license requirements;
* Proof of Canadian citizenship- Canadian citizens may present a passport, as visas are not required, or they may provide secondary evidence, such as a birth certificate. However, Canadian citizens traveling to the United States from outside the Western Hemisphere are required to present a valid passport at the port-of-entry;
* Fee of U.S. $50
