surgery - visa hindrance?

good day!

i would just like to inquire if undergoing an operation negatively affects the granting of a visa for the states? i understand that all applicants are required to undergo a medical exam, but i've been hearing a lot of talk such as, "so and so can't enetr the states because she had this operation, etc...". is there any truth to that? let's say, the applicant underwent a major operation or something..

The medical basically consists of a general physical, chest x-ray and blood test(HIV and venereal disease) This is what it states on the US embassy site in the Philippines regarding medical http://manila.usembassy.gov/wwwh3218.html I believe that for most they pass the medical but if you are positive for HIV then you can fail the medical but each is determined individually however the aim of the medical is to ensure you will not become a drain health wise. I do not think major operation will stop you

Surgical procedures do not keep anyone from working in the US; just another rumor that comes up every so often from your country.
