To obtain endorsement you in CA you must be a graduate of your state approved program- it doesn't even mention the way a foreign graduate to access.

Bigger issue, why leave the USA with established programs with quick access ? Contacts you make in nursing school are wonderful ways to network. Make it easier if you wish to transfer to a RN program and most are inexpensive or cheaper than flying half way around the world and wait for access to take the NCLEX with only a 33% chance of passing.

Many PN programs have evening programs for those students who have to work and go to school. There are hardly any waiting lines and as I have said before the best place to go to nursing school is the country you wish to practice ( isn't that common sense). I can't get why people are always trying to take short cuts.

No, you only need State LVN license not a garduate of state approved program see link http://www.bvnpt.ca.gov/pdf/endorsement.pdf. I dont see your info jiving with the actual websites. The second link I posted are for LVN's in other state obtaining endorsement without the need to take a test. It lists the requirements needed and none of them matches your info. First of all, short cut means doing lvn in a month which is not even possible. But doing lvn the same time and same curriculum as here in no short cut at all. Lvn schools right now starts from 20K and philippine schools are only 2k plus ticket! So if you can do it why not save 18k? You can repay your loans with one month of salary compared to 20k minimum here in the U.S.

$20K seems awful high. Seems like there are plenty of programs under $10K that will provide you with a pass rate greater than 80% .........

Philippines 30% pass rate, loss of income waiting for NCLEX to be process could be months ( Loss of Thousand of dollars ) and airfare. Trouble transferring credits to RN program. No federal loans to assist the cost of school.

To a bargain hunter like me it doesn't seem like a bargain and too much of a gamble. Not to mention that it maybe difficult to function as PN since there is no level of practice in the country you would be attending school. Best of Luck with your choice.

I agree with you, there are schools for 10,000 or less but thats if you want to graduate 3-4 yrs from now in an LVN course. Waiting lines for those schools are years... umm thats waiting for a job I guess in your own words loss of income. Schools with no waiting lines are worth 20,000.

Also why are you assuming that if a person studies in the Philippines, he or she would fail? It depends on how one studies. The curriculum are the same the books are the same and everything is in English. 33% you are bragging about are international statistics and not Philippines alone. The passing rate of "Americans" you are bragging about are not "Americans" alone but from different races including latina's and FILIPINOS. Stop generalizing and assuming I thought you have studied that here?

I don't care what West Virginia requires, I only care about what California requires since I reside in the state. Also, it doesn't matter if you have a license to practice in another state. Each state has it's own requirements for licensure in their own state. What California requires, West Virginia might not recognize. What New Mexico requires, New York might not recognize. It all depends on each state. Califonria has guidelines that it follows which are totally different than West Virginia. California doesn't accept Excelsior grads unless they have at least 1-2 years experience. New York doesn't accept Indiana State University but California reconizes it.

If you are licensed as a Practical/Vocational Nurse in another U.S. State or Territory, you will be eligible for licensure in California without examination, pursuant to Section 2872.1 of the Business and Professions Code, provided that you present satisfactory proof of a current and valid license as a vocational nurse or practical nurse, or in an equivalent capacity, by another state, a territory of the United States or a foreign country;

You need a valid license in your country of origin. It states so A CURRENT AND VALID LICENSE. California wont automatically issue you a license by endorcement because you have a license from West Virginia or any other state that issued you a license. They will still require you to submit your educational credentials, and if there is no license in your country of origin how can you expect to be licensed in California?

Have you read everything in the link that you gave me which I already posted awhile ago? I am also from CA and I have inquired about this. The only requirement they are asking is A CURRENT LICENSE FROM ANOTHER STATE. Philippines is not a state and if you already have a license in WEST VIRGINIA then you can get a license through ENDORSEMENT because you just passed NCLEX in WV so its current. CA does not require experiences please read everything. Applications and requirements in for the endorsement does not require educational background because WEST VIRGINIA already gave you a license.

This is what I hear from the nurses who completed the RN program and come from the USA and fail the NCLEX In my area where it is very nurse saturated there is no line for the PN, you have to successfully pass the TEAS test.

West Virginia on it's web site cites it will close any school where the passing rate is less than 80%. Foreign Countries don't have this protection. Also to teach and be approved by the NLN you must have Masters Prepared Educators or BSN with tons of experience. From the postings here the RNs in the Philippines do not have this mandate. Once again , bargain shopping is not the way I wanted to get my nursing education.

Sorry if you if look at the Stats, the nurses from the Philippines have a pass rate in the 50S and that includes BSNs who couldn't pass the RN NCLEX. Even if you take the high rate it is still 50/50 and I like a sure think.

So that means Philippines produces students with high passing rate. International stat does not mean Philippines alone it is possible that LPN's are in the 50's also but are brought down by other countries. So lets not assume because with the same curriculum, books, and english language as mode of teaching, then its up to the individual to study and pass the test.
