student visa, is it really good

Hi everyone! Has anyone tried to study while working in australia? I just want to know more about the living conditions/ lifestyle of an international student in australia... Can they really work while study in Australia legally? Can an international student easily shift his student visa to working visa after his studies? Pls tell me if someone knows about this...
