SEC assessment NEXT WEEK NOW what to do

Hi

I have been informed by Mt Royal College, that they had a cancellation next week and can fit me in for the SEC IEN assessment. I am like WWWWW HHHHHAAATTTTTT and thought I will give it a shot. However, I am not prepared. I question thou, is anyone prepared for these assessments.?

Should I just have the attitude, You can only do your best?

I dont know really, I am in shock knowing its next week now, no prep and going in like guns blazing?????

Assessment in OB and Peds? I have no idea now, so what difference would it make for next week?

Any ideas or advice?

Kylie

Hi! I am an avid reader here and this is my first post. I've been following through your thread because I too was required by CARNA to undergo SEC assessment and that interests me a lot.
I wish you all the best for the SEC assessment next week. Just pray, do your best and He will do the rest for you.
Meanwhile, we will be waiting for your news and updates after your SEC assessment.
Good Luck and God bless.

I was advised by CARNA to contact Mt. Royal College for a SEC assessment after passing an English fluency test. I took the IELTS recently and successfully passed it. What is my next step? Should I contact Mt. Royal College now and ask when I can take the test or should I wait until I am ready to take it? I am planning to write the test in June next year and I am afraid that if I talk to them now, they will schedule me for the test right away. Please advise me on what to do...

Hi Ying33,

Yeah, I think you should contact MT. Royal college as soon as possible to make an appointment for your SEC assessment. If you do well in your assessment, you will be eligible for CRNE, Otherwise, you have to attend the refresh program... May I know which area you have to be assessed? For me, only OBST

BTW, hOW WAS the IELTS TEST, difficult? I am going to attend the test next month... PLS give me some advice.... THanks!

Hi, I don't know which area I will be assessed... the letter from CARNA says SEC assessment in General Nursing (perhaps all areas??????? ... I am not sure!)

As for the IELTS, if you are conversant, you will do well in speaking. They usually ask general questions. Be sure that you know what you are talking about because they usually get the follow-up questions from your previous answers. In the writing part, if you are good in organizing your thoughts, have a good lexical resource, you will also get a high mark. Just be sure to answer what is being asked and comply with the required number of words because you will be penalized if you don't. The listening part is pretty easy too. Be attentive and stay focused. I found the reading and comprehension part a bit hard, perhaps because I am a slow reader. The passages are too long so you should practice how to skim and scan. Try the website www.ielts-exam.net for free online practice tests.

Good luck to you!
