- Apr 29, '08 by janfrnThere are at least a gazillion posts in this forum that will help you out. Scroll through the threads or do a search and you'll have enough reading to keep you busy for hours.
- May 4, '08 by suzanne4Thread moved to the International Forum since it is specific to licensure and immigration issues. Working in Canada will involve both. Much has already been written on this topic and we just recommend a search for the required information that you will need.
Best of luck to you.
- May 5, '08 by RNGrad2006Quote from Seattle-VancouverIt is a fairly long process. Two big things. You need to contact the College of Registered Nurses of BC. Then they will assess your education (takes about 6 months). But you will also have to do 250 hours of supervised practice in order to get the license (called registration). They estimate the whole process to take about a year. But they have a interim license that you may be qualified for after you are granted the ability to take the Canadian Exam (CRNE) which is only offered 3 times a year and is a pencil paper 8 hour exam. But not sure if you are a Canadian or not. If not there would be immigration issues as well. I have a lot of knowledge on this because I have also started the process but since I am living and working in the US I cant do the required practice hours at this time. I just wanted a license for down the road if I ever decided to move back to Canada. I am Canadian but since I trained in the US am still required to follow the criteria of a foreign trained nurse. It would be helpful if anyone can shed some information to obtain B.C. License.
