Salary as entry level nurse in Austalia

Hi, I wonder what is the salary as an entry level nurse (registered and Bachelor of Science)?

I always heard that the salary for nurses would be very good in Australia. But when I investigated more, I started to think that the salary will be only between 25 and 30 Dollars per hour.

Can you please shed some light on this?

Entry level in the public hospital system is approx. $1,142 per week for 37.5 hours work. This excludes any leave or overtime pay, casual/sick loading, etc etc. Private hospitals you may get paid a little more.

Hi Wadid,

What state were you looking at starting nursing practise?

Each state has its own bargaining agreement with public hospital nurses.

Private hospital nurses are paid less than public hospital nurses in Australia.

New grad RNs with absolutely no experience earn $33.11/hr. $49.66 on Saturdays $57.94 on Sundays. You get afternoon and night shift penalties as well if you work them during a weekday.

I was a Clinical Nurse in Brisbane and I was paid $42/hour (basic rate). On Saturdays the rate was $63/hr and on Sundays it was $73.50. This was more 2 years ago.
