RN India to UK and now hopefully to OZ

  1. Hello all,

Firstly can i just say that I feel so excited that I have discovered this forum. I didnt' realise such a community existed!:wink2: .

I was wondering if anybody could help with a migration issue which I can't seem to find the answer to:

I am a 3 year Diploma qualified RN from India. I have been practising in the UK for the last 4 years.

I now wish to move to Oz on a PR. I am about to send for my skills assessment to the ANMC. However I am worried I will be rejected.

I'm concerned that my diploma, as it is not a degree, will not be recognised.

Does anyone know for sure if my UK experience will waive my need for a degree?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Kind Regards
    TC

The title of the degree is not important, but what was covered in your program is what matters. That is what the governing boards look at.

The ANMC bases it's assessment on the ANCI competency statements. The ANCI are the minimum competancy skills required for pre-registration. So it is less about the qualification and more about the skills you have obtained or can prove you currently work within,

    Many Thanks for the replies.
This certainly has put my mind at ease!

I did a 6 month adaptation course when I moved to the UK. However, I did not submit any transcript for this course, as I have been requesting this for months, and the institution just aren't sending it.

Do you think a statutory declaration informing that I completed this course, where I did it, along with the course's content to the ANMC, would be acceptable to them?

Do you think that if the ANMC will recognise that as I have managed to gain reg in the UK, they will assume that I have the neccessary competencies to practice in the Oz? My employer statment of competence does show my skills.

    Regard
    TC
