RN on H4 visa

by shresha

I graduated on may 2007 from US college as an RN. I changed my status from F1 to H4 when I had baby, I was wondering how can I work under my current status and are there any hospitals that sponsor green card directly in MN or CT. I have the RN licence for both. Thanks

Default Re: RN on H4 visa
You are unable to work at this time as there are no visas that are available for you. Even with the F-1 status, the OPT is only good for one year. And is never renewed. Even with a facility willing to petition, it still will not get you the documents that you need to work while your papers are being processed.

Unfortunately, there is not a thing that you can do at this time. The US government is not accepting the I-485 petition and that is what is needed for you to adjust your status and be able to work. We are not expecting it to open up for several years. Please take the time to do some reading on this forum about the retrogression.

Also be aware that attending school in the US does not give any preference as far as immigration goes.
