Questions regarding exam application for RN in California

Hi there,
I am International Graduates nurse from Ukraine. In
June 2007 I graduated from medical college in Ukraine
with RN degree. Now I am applying for the California NCLEX-RN exam. I
have contacted California Board of Nursing and they suggested to download the application forms which I already did, but some questions still unclear.
1. Social Security number.
The application for Licensure by examination has field
for social security number. I don’t have any social
security number, because I am living outside of United
State. In Ukraine we don’t have social security. How
can I provide the social security if I don't have one?
I am afraid without SS my application will be denied.
2. Fingerprints.
It says that complete an application for examination I
need to include a fingerprints card.
If I live outside of USA the fingerprints card should
be submitted on Hard Card. Where can I get this card
and how can I prove that fingerprints are mine?
3. Transcripts.
In addition I have to generate an English version of
my diploma and transcripts using ATA (American
Translators Association). In Ukraine we do not have
ATA's representative. Should I send all my documents to
ATA in USA. When I get all the translation ready it
will be forward to my nursing school? Then my nursing
school will send all the documents to the BON in
California.
4. NCLEX-RN exam and TOEFL
Should I pass NCLEX-RN exam first and then TOEFL or
vise verse?
Could you please help me and answer my questions.

If you know any Russian or Ukraine nurses who recently passed the exam in Calirornia and successfully went through for the whole process, please let me know.

Thank you everyone who is going to help me and thanks a lot for this forum.

Hi and welcome to the site

You leave SSN blank as you will not recieve one until you are in the USA with a valid work visa.
Fingerprint cards will be sent to you at your request and details can be found on their website. You can check with your local police or local US embassy regarding having your fingerprints done.
I should image the US Embassy may be able to help you with accepted translators regarding your transcripts
It doesn't matter which way you do your language or NCLEX but will be a few months before you will be able to sit the NCLEX exam.

Where abouts are you looking to work? I would suggest having a good read in this forum, most of your questions have been answered previously, would also suggest reading up regarding retrogression, there is a CA thread if that is your destination, CA is not normally recommended for initial license as they will not issue you with a license without a SSN but instead a letter stating you meet requirements, will also take you several weeks to obtain you results

Courier services cannot deliver to PO Box addresses here in the US, that is why you will see both street addresses and the PO Box used.

But I would take the time to see why we do not recommend CA for initial licensure if you are not already in the US with a visa that will permit you to work.

Much has already been written on this so not going to post it again here, just do a search for the threads with the needed information for you.

Entertainment Re: traslating the trascripts for the CA BON
I have a question regarding traslating the trascripts for the CA BON
Can my foreign school send the trascripts directly to the BON in California in their original language and then I get myself another set of trascripts to be traslated by an ATA certified traslator, the traslating agency can send the traslations with the original trascripts to the CA BON once notarized? Or does my school have to send them directly. My former school does not generate English versions of TOR, and I am trying to meet their requirements. My school is taking its sweet time and sending the traslations back to my old country and get the school to send them with my TOR is becoming a nightmare. I live in California and I find very easy to find a certified traslating agency in my area, but none for my country. That's what's creating this problem. .... Any suggestions?

Have you contacted BRN and asked them which they would prefer?

Each case is based individually and much better to ask them themselves what they would prefer as they really have the final say and doing it a way someone on here says they did could be wrong and cause you more delays
