Question about applying for NCLEX

by Lera

Hi, everyone! Finally i found the site, where i can ask questions about my future plans becoming RN. I am foreign nurse. Completed school outside of USA. Now i would like to aplly for NCLEX. I did send request of transcripts form to my school, they did everything pretty quick, and send all my documentation to the Board. When i was contacting Board over the phone, they told me, that first they have to recieve my paperwork form my school, and only then i can send them my application with fingerprints and paid fees. It's been more than 6 monthes, i didnt receive any letter from the Board, telling me if i am eligible or not to take NCLEX. I know that it takes long time, but not that long i think. Maybe i am wrong. Please, if anyone knows what should i do? And, one more thing i am a Permanent Resident of USA, so i have no problems with immigration problems. Thank you so much.

sometimes, they do process very slow.
your wait time is their average processing time.

call them (again) and ask about your application.

Good Luck!

Firstly you are not applying for NCLEX but licensure to be a nurse in the US. NCLEX is just a part of that process. Which board of nursing have you applied to?

You need to get on the phone and blow up the phone system at the cali bon, Call and call them until you get through to them.

I sure wouldn't of sit by for 6 months just waiting, I would of been calling about every 3 weeks. Get the name and extension of the person whom you have talked to.

After a couple of calls, ask for a Supervisor and then note and date everytime you have called, keep complete notes.

I have found some BON to be a little scattered brained to deal with

I am confuses, you are not a nurse why are you calling BON? As a concerned citizen ? If that was so you would only be calling one agency? Are you an official from a school of nursing?

Lera have you actually sent the application form and paid the fees? They won't be able to match your transcripts, if they don't have that, plus without the fee the don't even look at your papers.
Most boards keep papers without an application only for a short period of time, if they cannot be matched they will be destroyed.

Better ring them and sort that out.

Some boards are getting so many applications, especially from IEN's, it takes easily 6 months until you hear something. Phonecalls that keep the staff busy don't help with that. That's the reason, why some boards don't even bother with answering anymore and make it harder for every other applicant.
I don't know what your job is, can you enlighten us?
