please help!reciprocity or endorsement?

I passed the NCLEX exam about 2 years ago but California board of Nursing said that they wouldn't release my license until i provide them SSN and the license is only valid for only 3 years I live here in the UK and very unlikely that my immigrant application will be processed then so please advise what do i need to do. I have heard other nurses applying for reciprocity or endorsement?I don't really know which one I need because apparently other states give you your license even without SSN.

I am new to allnurses.com and I didnt know where to post my question.please help.
Thanks
anabelle

Hi and welcome to the site

I have moved this to the International forum.

NCLEX results has reciprocity License is endorsed. You however do not have a license to endorse so need to either apply in writing for an extension with Ca citing retrogression as the problem or apply to another state by application and meet new state requirements for foreign trained nurse and request a forward your results to the new state.

Much has already been written about this suggest a search for California in this forum.

thank you for your idea.i didn't had any idea about this i have my lawyer and she keep saying to me that i could request an extension however i am worried that Ca board of nursing would refuse to extend and b that time my result is expired before i could apply as you've advised.i will try to see options and thank you.i feel stupid for asking such a silly question but honestly didn't had any idea.
thanks

Anabelle

We have had several members extend their Ca application with no problems. Just don't leave it too long before asking because like you said the worry is loosing your file before you have chance to move your NCLEX results across. Probably better to just apply to another state and meet their requirements and wait until you know things are moving towards your PD. Once in the US and have a SSN you shouldn't have too many problems getting sorted with a license

Im still confused with some minor things. My sponsor for my immigrant visa application is in Ca do you think it wouldn't be affected if i apply in other state for a license.which state do you refer?I have friends who applied in vermont for quicker reply and processing is it true based on your knowledge?
i really appreciate your help. I couldn't believe that there is a place like this. i have been wondering all these time but didn't had anyone to ask to..My aunts live and work as nurses in the US but have no idea maybe because things 37 years ago when they were applicants like me was totally different from how things right now.
again thank you so much.

It shouldn't have any effect on your sponsor having a license in another state. You will not get a SSN until you are in the US and prove you are there with a valid work/immigrant visa. Employers should be aware of this and make allowances.Vermont now takes longer due to high influx of applicants but you have the time as retrogression is going to last a lot longer and there are many nurses/people already in the queue. Once you know your application with NVC is being processed (PD is current) you can start the application again with CA as your file may have been destroyed (will need your transcripts again) and then once in the US you can show them your SSN and a license usually doesn't take long to be issued.
