Hi there! It's been a while since my last post. How's your schooling? I also started nursing school this fall and just finished my final exams. Thankfully, I survived my grueling semester If God-willing, I'm set to grad with ADN in Dec 07.

How about you? Take care and Good luck!

hey! happy to tell you i also got thru my finals this morning, whew! i've been sick (asthma!) since friday but just so i won't think about this final exam any longer than i should, i decided to go on ahead with it, with or without this wheezing and coughing. it went well and i'm mighty THANKFUL!!!!

I'm "might" be studying RN as a 2nd degree this fall. I am overwhelmed by all the requirements just to enroll.

XXXXXX you have your Transcript evaluated i.e. course by course evaluation, to be accepted into the program? I was hoping to get into accelerated nursing but I'm not sure if my degree would be equivalent to a US degree plus I have to study 12-24 units of pre-requisites.

XXXXXXXXXXX to be accepted to the program. I am in NJ by the way, XXXXXX

    Thanks!

hello, aneshka. i hope i'm not missing a lot about your post. i'm thinking the x's were tagalog words the mods edited out.

just go ahead with the course evaluation. better yet, check with the school what kind they need for your case---course by course or otherwise, they will have to let you know. i urge you to start now because it'll take some time to get all your transcripts sent from the phils to WES. (i hope you have someone in the philippines to do the leg work for you.). from there, WES will have to evaluate your credentials for about 4 weeks. only then can you go back to the school to find out which subjects you can successfully carry over. before you know it, classes are starting.

take care...post again, if you can.

yeah, why not? many universities offering your program of choice can be accessed online. you can check the websites and do some research. if the school has an international student office, coordinate with them for assistance with your visa. where i am, the int'l student tuition is 2-3x more than the regular resident's rate. however, i think some private universities charge a flat fee for the entire program regardless of citizenship...an accelerated/2nd degree bsn would be about $33k to $36k exclusive of books, board and lodging....since masteral programs are about the same length (2 years?), then i'm guessing that you'd be paying in the same neighborhood....as to the degree of difficulty, i really can't tell...some schools will require you to take TOEFL/English exams plus GRE instead of the SATs, secure recommendations...it's really varied depending on the school.

I am planning to take up LVN/LPN next year. Does California allow online LVN/LPN to BSN? HAs anybody take this route yet? How long did it take and how much does it cost?

either that or, i'll have to go back to PI to take up Nursing as a second degree. I have a degree in Dentistry BTW.

I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks

hi! welcome to the club (of second degree nurse-wanna-bees)! i've no info about lpn/lvn to bsn online programs in california. make sure CA approves the program before you make any commitment to pursue it. or you can take an accelerated bsn instead...i'd suggest that you exhaust your options here before deciding to study in rp.

there's a sticky by lawrence entitled lvn/lpn programs in the phils. it has a link to "schools for second coursers" by gemini-star. this post contains amazing info about rates and duration of available programs in rp, compiled maybe less than a year ago. tuition, as far as i can remember, ranges from p25k to p40k a semester. good deals, indeed, but DO REMEMBER to double check the reputation of the school--accredited? how long has the program been running? graduates? you must've been hearing this a hundred times already but sure, it pays be careful.
