so meaning if i pass the CAP in NZ their schooling qualifying exam i would be instantly an RN also in Australia?? so if things won't work out good in NZ for me i would still have an option to transfer in Autralia? like what you said that its better to be an RN in Australia. if i have talked to you earlier and discovered this site earlier maybe i would have opted for australia.but i have started my processing in NZ regardless of the huge amount i would be spending later on..Finding work in a hospital setting here in the philippines is really had now a days since we have a lot of graduates every year during my time there were 60,000 who took the local board exam ..thanxs Djuna your info is really a big help to me..And hopefully I made a right decision on deciding to work in NZ.

More or less 100,000 taking local board exam for nurses..thanxs Djuna your info is really a big help to me..And hopefully I made a right decision on deciding to work in NZ.

Raine, I assumed that u have passed your IELTS with a score of 7 or higher across the board. I also assumed that u are smart enough not to fall from any pitfalls of sweet promises from any agency in the Philippines or even agency from here in NZ. Like what Djuna said, NZ is no mecca.

I advise u to work there even for a year. Then apply in any tertiary hospitals here online. I know that Middlemore Hospital (my beloved hospital!) is already collaborating with POEA in recruiting nurses from the Philippines.

You will be working as a nurse. You will survive and later on get compensated and carry on a convenient life. Are you coming alone? If you are married, come here first before your family. My other Filipino friends did the same thing. Come to think about this, other Filipino workers are working here less than the nurse's income and yet they are having a quality life. I think, it depends on how you spend and control your savings.

NZ is a very nice place to start with. Why not taste and savor what NZ has to offer then go to Aussie after if u like? By that time, you can compare.

Just a friendly advice: YOU DO NOT NEED A RECRUITER OR AGENCY TO WORK HERE AS A NURSE. That's why Middlemore hospital is directly recruiting to stop the abusive agencies.

By the way, lots of Filipino nurses are coming here by their own (as in walang kilala!!!). Be brave!

Goodluck, :Dkabayan!

penicillin8, how much are you paid in middlemore hosptal??and how much did you send overall just getting there in NZ??for the schoolong and etc..wats a good school would you recommend for me to take the bridging program??

and would you mind giving me an idea how much is the school fee..?

Middlemore Hospital (my beloved hospital)

My alltime favourite hospital too. I trained and worked there and it's a wonderful place.

have you heard of golden summit immigration consultancy po??

That agency has lots of complaints from their recruits. Why don't you google it? Google the consultancy using the dub, dub, dub google dot co dot nz. You will find a news about it posted in stuff dot co dot nz.

I don't want to repeat myself. I have said it previously. Loud and clear.

YOU DO NOT NEED ANY RECRUITER/AGENCY OR CONSULTANCY COMING OVER HERE.

Regarding the school fees, why don't you contact the schools thru email. THEY ANSWER INQUIRY, don' worry. I suggest asking EIT (Hawkes Bay) and Unitech (Henderson). Google them. I think, they'll cost you less than NZ$4000. Don't go to Massey or Manukau Institute as these are expensive and I know you are considering this. You might not want to do your bridging course and boarding in the city coz the rent and cost of living is pretty expensive. All schools are good, so don't worry about the quality of the bridging course you'll get. If u want to know the rent fee, backpackers, etc. Google it. Use the site i mentioned earlier....co.nz. Goodluck. Don't ask the same questions again pls. ;)

hello penicillin8! i am very motivated and inspired by what you said. you made me brave. thanks! i ill try NZ without ause from any agency. what sort of visa will i apply for to take the CAP course? i have reviewed guidelines for visa by NZ embassy and may i ask if i can use a visit visa instae of student visa? thank you in advance for your help.:)

Attention: The moderator might transferred this to visa or migration forum as the topic is shifting to visa discussion and NOT payscales anymore.

Anyway, you can apply for visitor's visa. It is for 3 months. So, when somebody asks you how long are you gonna stay for your study, say 3 months and not 2 months although the CAP will only take 6 weeks (1 1/2 months). You are entitled to stay up to 3 months so, if asked tell that it's 3 months (you don't even know if yo will be extended, anyway, LOL!). The remaining weeks are your waiting time (NZRN cert, work permit, practicing certificate). If the work permit takes longer and three months are already up, don't worry coz you can't face removal since your passport is with the embassy and your work permit application is in the process. I am not talking here like I know everything but this already happened to some of my friends, so I am talking genuinely here. BUT, for your own peace of mind, email or contact personally people from NZ embassy in the Philippines so that you have the first hand information.

Don't believe anyone who'd say that it's the same money you will spend you can pay the recruiter/agency if you do it by yourself alone. That's a huge lie. I already received some msgs that some agencies are telling them that it's the same amount of money you will spend anyway so why not apply under agency. #$%^*&!!! Don't believe it!

Goodluck!

and would you mind giving me an idea how much is the school fee..?

Try Timaru Hospital ( South Canterbury District Hospital). I did my CAP in Timaru hosp. It only cost me NZD750 or free if you sign a 6 months employment contract with them.
