Hi everyone. I recently passed the nclex and I'm from the Philippines. My fiancee is in the CA right now, can he do all the processing to get a SSN for me? Is this possible? And also what if I have an agency from CA to process my papers to work in US can it make my documents to process faster so I can go there immediately?

Thank you for reading this thread and I appreciate for any reply.

hi mj3lasvejas,

i passed my nclex-rn california state last year. also have my cg certificate.(qualifying exam)

i'm taking into consideration asking the ca brn to forward my results to nevada, do i have to comply with the ces requirement?

2nd query: if ever ive done the above thing, what will the nevada board of nursing íssue to me, a license card?

thank you so much in advance.

be blest!:)

as for your 1st query:

the ces evaluation is the most important requirement for foreign graduate nurses required by the nv-bon. the ces evaluation is done by the cgfns for a fee of $328.00 and takes about 2-3months to finish. i really don't think the ca-bon could endorse anything to the nv-bon since you were not issued any license. endorsement is only possible if you have been issued a license from that bon. my guess would be, that you will start from scratch when you apply at the nv-bon since they have different ways to process applications.

2nd query:

nope, they won't issue any license unless you have a ssn. this is standard for all state. they even have it in bold letters with the packet they send for application:

"a license will not be issued unless the applicant can provide a valid ssn"

i hate to break this bad news to you but unless you're here in the us with a valid ssn, it's near impossible to be issued a license no matter what board of nursing you're applying with.

Thank you guys for that..

My understanding is that the CES only evaluate the credentials of the applicants,no qualifying exam to take, just those rquirements needed for evaluation.

While the CGFNS (Certification program) that I have taken comprises 3 parts: namely, the evaluation of credentials, the qualifying exam and the English proficiency which in my case I took up the IELTS. So if ever I push thru with my plan, thats means I would have to submit my credentials for Another Evaluation for CES. Am I right?

Any infos about this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. More power.

your assumptions are true, the CES is a CGFNS service responsible for comparing your credentials to US standards; no qualifying exams at all. they will simply send the NV-BON their "evaluation" of the papers you submitted which will comprise of HS diploma, college TOR and RLE clinical number of hours. they will send it to the BON and then the BON tells you what to do next.

if i may ask, what type of CES credentials evaluation was that? becuase if it is the same as what the NV-BON requires, then you can just "re-order" that service from CGFNS for a new recipient (which will now be the Nevada BON instead of the previous CA BON).

Specializes in Medical and general practice now LTC.

CGFNS exam is only required by approx 4 states. CES is course evaluation and if the state requires that for foreign trained nurse then you have to do it. They may accept CGFNS CP but that is something that is usually indicated on the website or by contacting the BON concerned

Do you mean the CGFNS International Certification Program?, a three-part program. The three parts of the program include a credentials review, ( this review includes the evaluation of secondary and nursing education, registration and licensure) a Qualifying Exam of nursing knowledge and an English language proficiency examination. One must successfully complete all three parts of the Certification Program in order to earn the CGFNS Certificate. That''s what I did. I completed all the 3 parts- thus they issued me the CGFNS Certificate which according to the CGFNS International is a lifetime certificate.

Here's what they have to say about these 2 programs which I found on this link:

What are the differences between the CES report and the CGFNS International Certification Program?

The CES report summarizes an applicant's credentials. It does not include a pass/fail eligibility review or an examination as in the Certification Program. The CES evaluates the educational/professional credentials of multiple types and levels of health care professionals, while the Certification Program accommodates ONLY first-level, general (registered) nurses. (The CES can be utilized by multiple, internationally educated health care professionals.) Another difference is that the CGFNS International Certification Program indicates one's likelihood of passing the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN® examination).

What type of information does a CES report contain?

All CES reports contain an analysis of non-health care and professional education, country-specific background information about schools attended by the applicant, complete dates of attendance, grading scales, validations of registration/license information received directly from source authorities, credential source verification and bibliographical references. All information is presented in terms of U.S. standards.

It is more likely that If I proceed with my plan, I will have to order the CES , some of the documents or information that they have received on file for my Certification Program will be use ,however, those I'm lacking I will have to provide ém.

I hope this information is helpful to those who are a bit confused like me.

Thank you MJ3lasvejas and Silverdragon for taking time to reply. More power!:)
