Congratulations to you, average wait time is 8 months. And that is dependent on how quickly your licensing board and nursing program submit the needed material once it is asked for by CGFNS.

Please be aware that there are not any visas available at this time, not sure what type of visa that you are currently on and if it permits you to work.

It is great that you have the green card, otherwise you would not be permitted to work at this time.

And is it really ok to pass the application in NY even if the documents from cgfns is not yet done? I hope you could help me with this. Im really confuse on how will i start. Thanks.

CGFNS has a special arrangement with NY and they do all the legwork all that is required from applicant is complete and sign form. NY will not look at your file until they receive from CGFNS. CVS only needs to be done if you intend on working in NY and very hard to find hospitals willing to petition especially at the moment.

ah i see, so all that i have to do is apply in cgfns for my documents like the secondary school, academic records, etc. to be evaluated and pay. And they will be the one to contact my school etc. Yes, thats actually the reason why I already decided to initially apply in NY when i read the blogs. I was actually planning before to take my initial license in VT then endorse to NY but since there is retro i think it'll be just ok to wait. Do you think i just did the right thing? Im really confuse if its better this way.

Even if you took licensure in another state and plan to work in NY you would still have to complete CVS so will save money going straight to NY if that is your final destination

Please be aware that there is about an eight month processing time on average before you will get approval to sit for the NCLEX exam thru NY. There is no way to speed things up.

And add into that the fact that we have not seen any hospital petitioning from there in sometime, and it is only going to get worse because of the retrogression. You are looking at about five years to even have a chance at a green card, it is no longer going to be an instant thing if you pass the NCLEX exam and have an employer. There are many more applicants than visas now.
