NY Licensure by endorsement from CA

I applied for licensure by endorsement to NY from CA. Im done with the CVS, a report was already issued. NY BON sent me an application for licensure, I already sent it back to them with the payment. A request was already sent to CA for my NCLEX result also with the payment. It was months ago already. I havent recieved any news from them. I contacted NY BON twice already but still no response.

Has anybody experienced something like this?

in order to apply for licensure by endorsement in NY you must be a registered nurse and hold a current licensed card in CA. It takes several weeks for california to send ur NCLEX result.

To endorse you need a license and CA will not issue a license without SSN so need to follow a slightly different procedure check this link out http://allnurses.com/forums/f75/cali...re-253147.html

You need to follow License by Examination process and have CA forward your results to NY. You cannot use the endorsement process as there is no license to endorse. Without a SSN#, there was never a license issued to you. If CA was sent a form to verify a license, there was no license to verify, they need to have been requested to verify passing of the NCLEX exam only.

miss suzanne,
You mean I need to apply for Licensure by examination. DO I need to start again with the CVS? What about my previous application with NY?
We already paid for NY and CA. DO I need to pay them again?
Im confused.
Thanks

You do not need to test again, but you needed to use the application called License by Examination as you do not have any license to endorse. Passing of the NCLEX exam for CA does not get you a license number issued if you do not have a SSN#. So you are never able to endorse a license from CA if it does not exist.

NY is waiting for your CA license number since you submitted that application and will not do a thing until they get the number since you used that form.

Suggest that you contact them to see what they wish for you to do.
You do not need to go thru the CVS process again as that has already been completed. Nor do you have to write the NCLEX again. What you wanted to do was submit the License by Examination form and then have CA verify that you passed the exam, they cannot verify a license and that is what NY is waiting for.

For any others that are reading this:

If you are a foreign nurse that does not have a SSN# and you take the NCLEX exam for a state that does not issue a license without that and you are wishing to get a license now in another state; never submit License by Endorsement application as there is no licensure number to endorse. You must use the License by Examination application and then have the state that you tested for submit proof of passing to the new state.

Or you can get delayed for months and months as the new state will be waiting for you to submit a license number to them.
