NY License

by hom2shr

I have a friend from Taiwan who recently forwarded his application to CG and has begun the CES process for NY licensing. After reading several posts on how long it's taking NYBON to provide ATT and with NY hospitals not being too receptive to sponsoring foreign nurses, should he even continue the process with NY or should he attempt another state? NJ will not issue a license without a SS number, which he does not have. Which states issue initial licenses without SS#. Where would job prospects be more favorable?

NY requires CVS not CES for licensing. Please have your friend recheck his application with cgfns.

There are actually only a handful of states that actually issue a hard license without having a SSN#. A state should be selected not based on that criteria. As long as the NCLEX-RN exam is passed, then the immigration petition can be started. It does not require an actual hoard license.

Your friend needs to decide where they really wish to work. NJ requires the CES, as does most other states. Do they want warm weather? Or snow?
Big city or small city? Teaching hospital or non-teaching.

My opinion is that the nurse should always make these decisions, not an agency for them.

He has already submitted CVS NY application and payment to CG. He, however has decided he wants to work in NJ. Can he start CES for NJ...
or is it too late.. Can he have both going on at once....

It is never too late to do anything. Your friend can start the CES process now as well. Just has to pay for it and it can be done.

Once he has paid a fee to them, it is non-refundable because he changed his mind. Suggest that he go ahead and get it done and after he gets some experience in NJ, he may wish to go to NY and he will need that to endorse later on.
