My niece is an NCLEX passer in the State of Illinois but she is a registered nurse in The Philippines, how can she apply for a job in that state

Please reply my inquiry it will be much appreciated

Was she issued a license in Illinois?

Does she have a social security number?

Illinois does not require a social security upon receiving the initial RN license. If she was issued a license, she can apply for any hospital in the state that will sponsor her to the states.

A social security number is required to get the RN license renewed.

Does your niece have work rights in the US? It will be significantly more difficult if visa sponsorship is required and no SSN. The wait got employment based visas is 3-15 years depending on country of birth due to retrogression

I don't quite understand your English.

But are you trying to say you can still come to USA from Philippines or other countries on a work visa for a nurse?

If so I find that amazing they would still be importing nurses into USA

You can still come but the odds of finding an employer to sponsor is slim to none. Not to mention the wait for a visa for someone born in the Philippines is 8-10 years. It's unrealistic for an employer to hold your job for 5+ years.

So yes you misunderstood.

If you are not a US citizen or PR your chances of working in the US is low. There is no active recruitment of overseas nurses in the US or Canada.

If she is not a US citizen or permanent resident or a non citizen with a valid work visa it is going to be a daunting task to find an employer not only willing to sponsor a work visa (required to show no US citizen or PR qualified for the job) but willing to wait the 3-15 years for the priority date to be current (essentially holding a job open for 3-15 years---not realistic)

She can apply all she wants but once "I need a visa to come to/work in the USA" button on the application is chosen it's likely to be an automatic rejection.

There is no US nursing shortage (especially of inexperienced nurses) and no active recruitment of overseas nurses. Is it impossible? No. But securing a US job is highly unlikely
