I strongly recommend to work in a hospital. but it also depend what kind of environment or setting you like to work. you will not learn anything if you work in a nursing home especially if this will be your first job, and they pay much less in nursing home, the advantage in nursing home is much easier compare to hospital setting. you studied to become a nurse so be a nurse, nursing home is like being a caregiver w/ the license to give IV medications and able to do assessment.

Nursing homes also have more ration RN to patients and if new to the country you could easily be putting your license at risk

In a nursing home, you will have 30 to 60 patients per shift that you are legally responsible for. So much greater increase of chance to lose your license. And only minimal orientation, such as a couple of days.

Never, ever recommend them for someone new to the US and nursing here for the first time.
