Nursing Badges

Hey there all you quiet Aussie nurses - I know you're out there somewhere. I have a question for those of you that trained in QLD or work there...

Do any of you know if QUT School of Nursing has badges? You know, an enamel lapel pin like the one you got from the QNC when you registered? Over here in Wales it's the done thing to wear your badge - shows pride in your education etc - and I don't have one. I have my QNC badge, but as I let my reg lapse when I registered with the UKCC/NMC over here, I don't feel comfortable wearing it in case someone questions its validity.

I've sent an email to someone at QUT but no reply in over a week. I realise it's not important to them but it is to me. I wanna badge! *whining now*

Fran

Hi Fran,

will find out for you

Cheers Lol

Thanks Lol :)

Don't know for sure, but I can ask someone - I'm sure I've seen people wearing them though - will PM you tomorrow if I get a chance....

Ruth

Cheers Ruth :)

I get the feeling I'll be saying a lot of thank yous!

Hi Fran, as a QUT nurse I know for sure they have a badge (we all got one on graduation) You probably need to show proof of attendence to purchase one.

I was at QUT 1996-2000, graduated in 2000, been at TPCH since. Hope you are keeping warm in UK, cheers.

Dyno, I was class of 2000 too, but didn't get a badge since I moved to the UK and missed my own graduation.

Thanks to all for your help - I'll be posting off my info tomorrow to get my pretty shiny blue badge :D

Glad to be of help, don't forget they will probably want some money too!! We had a huge class of 2000, over 250 graduates, it was impossible to know everyone but what a coincidence that you graduated the same year at QUT.

What type of nursing are you doing in Wales?? cheers, Dyno

It was a huge graduating class, but not as big as when we started (440 in the first 3 months!). When we had lectures in the BLT (near the refec) I sat at the desk at the back of the theatre on the left of the sound box. Didn't have much choice since the stupid little chair-tables wouldn't fit over my belly and legs :imbar

Hey Fran, I know what you mean about those chairs-tables, up the back wasn't so bad cause you could observe everyone but the noise could get annoying & my eyesight took a beating over the 3 years (I eventually gave in & got glasses, only need them for long distance)

Let me know how you get on with the badge, I could photograph mine, scan it & send an image to you , then you could print & laminate it to wear!

:rotfl: @ Dyno! Thanks anyway, luv :)

Thanks to all of you who offered to help - Anita Johnston-Oost from QUT has emailed me to say she'll send one out in the post for nothing. I really do appreciate your kindness, and I look forward to taking you out for coffee and cake at the Aix when I get back to Oz!

Fran

You're on mate, I'd love to swap yarns about our first green years, especially with your o/s nursing experience. Cheers.
