nurse with almost a year of experience needs some advice

by sephine

Good day!

I'm currently working at a tertiary hospital for almost a year now. having a year of experience, i've been thinking of doing some possible major moves for my career. I can either:

a.) apply for canadian immigration using skilled worker visa ( my aunt lives there so there's some advantage but I'm not sure about my possible employment status there when i arrive....still need to register with CRNBC & sit the CNLE)

b.) apply as a nurse in new zealand through an agency ( & possibly apply for permanent residency soon)

c.) go to singapore & work as a nurse ( my sister currently works as a nurse there).

I still haven't took the NCLEx nor the CGFNS though..

which of these options do you think would benefit me best in terms of employment & stability?...

thanks a lot guys.

Moved to the International forum

Where do YOU want to live? A lot will depend on what sort of life you want and what your future plans are.

One year is not enough, hang in there to complete one whole year. In the USA most hospitals will not count your experience as one year unless you work 12 months, if you work 11 months you are consider to have no experience.

The first year of nursing is the hardest ( at least in my experience) so hang in there. Nclex I would wait since the US has retrogression. Sounds like you have some options though, family in other places in the world, that sounds exciting.

actually any of these 3 options would be great,,, but going to Canada would be the boldest option i got. It could be tremendously rewarding financially yet can be really uncertain.. though I have a relative in Vancouver.

actually I'm just planning ahead so as to make wise choices. Option 3 would be the easiest thing to accomplish though but it probably won't be as great as going to New zealand or Canada.. Now I'm pretty mucb confused... well, just keep posting guys. I'd be really glad to read them.. thank you..

Bear in mind as an IEN you will be assessed by the provincial College. If your education doesn't meet local criteria you will be expected to do a SEC.

You do know that Vancouver is a very expensive city to live in, even if you have family there?

I think vanouver can be quite an expensive place to live in. right now, I have my eyes on new zealand. After 2years of experience here in the country, I'll try my luck there. And be a permanent resident if Id really like the place.... If not, that's the time I'd consider worknig in Canada...by then I'd already have enough experience to make it up there.

thanks everyone!
